Pros

None. I have nothing good to say about Trustone. Trustone does not have the credit union values,.Trustone management come from the banking industry. One person is hired on, then all of their banking friends are brought it to replace the current staff.

Cons

This is a very dishonest employer. Trustone only concern is the bottom line, they do not care about anything other than the bottom line. Our credit union was forced to merge with Trustone, they led us all to believe they were a Credit Union that cared about the membership and employees. Not true. Trustone is trying to make a name in the credit union industry, they belong in the banking industry. I would encourage all future merger partners to explore all of your options, this is not a place I would recommend to anyone. They take everything and in return give nothing to your members or staff.

Pros

Fairly stable work environment if you are a compliant worker, don't question authority and are willing to perform your duties as you're told. Some position are represented by a union. But management plan has been to phase out and those employees and replace with non-union (lower paid, at will) employees.

Cons

Top management, including board members, know it all - and rule by fear and intimidation including managers. Previous CEOs held quarterly all staff meetings where we were updated about direction of the CU and each ended with a Q&A session. Current CEO (former TCF VP) has been in place for 6 years. All-staff meetings are now only twice a year with no opportunity to ask questions or share frontline experiences. Again, they must have all the answers. There is no appreciation of long term employees knowledge and experience other than a $100-500 bonus (taxed) each five year anniversary.

Pros

A very good business model that works in the best interest of the members. No share holders or families to make rich, so decisions are made for the right reason. You can't argue with the results, this Credit Union is going places. 3rd largest in MN. Growing, healthy, and twice name a Best Place to Work in national competitions in the last two years. They treat their employees well, have high expectations of each other and it shows.

Cons

Don't let their size fool you - there are plenty of career opportunities for those willing to work hard and do the right thing. If I have to come up with something - if you are unwilling to work hard, be nice and do the right thing every time, this may not be the place for you.
