There are several cons when being an employer at Trutech:
1.) The way you get paid is on a draw system. Trutech gives you $1000 on the first of them month. On the second pay period, you must pay this $1000 back with the commission you have worked for. This system works very well for the employer.
2.) You are given $20 dollars as a cell phone allowance (which is an incredibly important tool for this job), but have to pay $30 for the truck you are given to use. If you wreck the vehicle and you are at fault, get ready to fork over the $500 dollar deductible. If you cause damage in anybody's house (i.e. falling through an attic) you must also pay a $500 insurance deductible.
3.) Vacations aren't really paid, they just reduce your draw, and you don't get vacation until you are with the company for a year.
4.) Required Saturday work days. Meeting one Saturday every month, uncompensated.
5.) No matter how much work you get done or how efficient you are, if you don't sell enough, you are constantly hammered to do so.
6.) Customers calling all hours of the night, every day of the week.
7.) You must call, schedule, service, and collect money with all customers and if the actual collections department collects on the customer, they get some of your commission.
8.) Constantly have to fight for the money you have earned. Make sure you keep a spread sheet of all the work you do and all the money you collected if you do decide to work for them.
9.) Work in dangerous situations: attics, roofs, basements, crawl spaces, with dangerous animals and chemicals, not to mention the risk of driving around all day.
10.) Only room for advancement is if you sell the most or Trutech expands into a new state.
11.) They encourage to get reoccurring customers set up on an autopay system with their credit cards, but each time that card is run, or whenever a credit card is run, they take away 3% of your commission for credit card fees that they are charged.
12.) In short, I worked there for about 9 months and just got my tax return form, and it stated that I only made $13,000 in 9 months...I was scrambling to pay my rent every month....
