Free food, one of the few tech companies in San Diego

Cons

Management's IQ is one step about a primates...barely. Only work here if you exhaust all options and I mean ALL options. The culture is unbearable. People not knowing what to do will be common. They will give you really bad tools and expect perfect results and if they're not perfect, you will get yelled at. Your anxiety will go through the roof but they have health insurance to cover that so you're good. Culture is extremely toxic.

We're sorry you haven't had the best experience with management. Managing is a very difficult job, so we strive to provide regular training and support for our management staff. No one here expects perfection; it's just not a reasonable expectation. In fact, we encourage informed risk-taking and mistakes are nothing to be ashamed of - they are a great way to learn . We also don't approve of anyone, manager or otherwise, yelling in a disrespectful manner (yelling in celebration is another story!). If you ever face unreasonable expectations or you feel you are being treated in a way that doesn't show respect, please reach out to your HR Business Partner for support.

Its hard to say when management and other employees are suffocating you with nonsense

Cons

Management is terrible and incompetent. They have no idea what they're doing. Avoid them at all costs. The main guy up top is condescending and rude. He has not idea how to run a company. HR leaves fakes reviews on here. Don't believe any of the "five" star reviews. Literally no one from the company thinks like this.

We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We're sorry that you're not having a great experience. We like to think we have a lot of stellar, hard-working managers here at TuSimple. Like most tech start-ups, we have a lot of first-time managers that are still fine-tuning their management skills, which is why we have a comprehensive management program in place to accelerate their growth. Also, HR would never leave fake reviews. Lying about what it is like to work here is a lose-lose situation. The company would spend a lot of time and money recruiting people, they would come on board, they would be miserable, and they would quickly leave. Then we'd have to start the recruiting process all over again. We don't see any value in that scenario at all. Thanks again for writing us a review. We have an open-door policy and a lot of anonymous surveys we periodically issue, so we encourage you to take any concerns you have to upper management and to provide feedback on surveys.

- can you imagine no salary raise and almost no bonus after one year of hard work? - smelly office (really a big issue) - very unprofessional tech-culture

We're glad that you enjoy your coworkers and teammates! What's not to love about great people and food!?! Most of our employees saw an increase in their salary in 2019 and the average total bonus for 2019 was over 15% of base salary for eligible employees. As for the smelly office - I don't think anyone likes a smelly office so please email Operations if you're experiencing an issue so they can look into it.
