Greedy and Inconsistent Management

Pros

Company is in a niche market with little to no meaningful competition, which lends itself well for growth.

Cons

Company growth due to extensive acquisition. Acquired companies operate as a "division," and each have very different cultures and management styles. Corporate management is vastly different than all the others and is more worried about making money above anything else -- not worried about employee growth or morale, and certainly has a "take or leave it" attitude with the customer. Highly political and untrustworthy environment. Lots of backstabbing and jockeying.

Developer are nerds. Remote work was pretty easy to demand

Cons

Low pay. Work is boring. Technology is old. Management makes bad decisions. Embraces using .NET Framework over .NET Core

No work-life balance

Pros

I worked with some nice people who worked very hard. The training program was good, but required many hours of OT.

Cons

No respect for a work-life balance. Expectation is basically that you are working all of your waking hours. PTO is use it or lose it per calendar year, and most lose it. If you do take PTO, plan to be working during that time. The software is old, clunky, and cumbersome, so it takes time to learn and a lot of time to find errors and fix issues with so many peoples hands in the software. There is no process, so constant rework, meaning more time spent on evenings and weekends finding and fixing issues. It felt like a disorganized, frustrating, time-eating hot mess. Once training was done, there was no process or support. You're on your own to figure things out. A better plan is needed for people once they start a project. Felt unappreciated most of the time there.
