Pros

It is a large corporation, which by its very nature provides a great number of potential career paths and opportunities. It's geographically diverse, which provides opportunities to move if needed. It is very results oriented, and generally speaking results are rewarded.

Cons

As in many large corporations, bureaucracy often gets in the way of common sense. There have been issues with upper management not effectively communicating the reasoning behind important decisions. There have been rumors of back room or golf course vendor deals in the past. The culture in the past has concentrated on cost savings to the extent where it effected morale.

Pros

At US Bancorp, I have an opportunity to learn more about what I do on a daily basis. I like knowing that if I work hard enough, I can advance in my career. US Bancorp supports higher education by paying for a portion of tuition, which is very helpful to anyone who wishes to go back to school for further degrees.

Cons

The health insurance is the main downside at US Bancorp. It's better than no insurance, but it's certainly not the best. All the different options for putting together your insurance plan can be confusing, and sometimes you're left to wonder if you made the right decisions along the way.

Pros

My experience is in the corporate IT and technology side of the bank. U.S. Bank has a more centralized and cohesive enterprise architecture than other banks their size or larger in the US, and they have an extremely conservative attitude towards risk. This provides good experience for anyone who wants to understand working on large enterprise-scope systems and dealing with extreme demands for tracability and quality.

Cons

They do not pay software and technology workers as well as other employers in their markets (mostly Milwaukee WI, Minneapolis-St. Paul MN, and Portland OR). The work environment is very rigid in terms of processes and procedures, and many people may not like the administrative tasks and paperwork required. The culture penalizes people for taking chances.
