Pros

telework, stability, regular pay check

Cons

terrible, bullying political management. seems to have gotten worse since the conference scandal, not better. the scandal was completely unrelated to conferences, training and travel. conferences, training, and travel are necessary for us to do our jobs. the scandal was about lies and thievery and the complete and total failure of the bureaucracy to hold a 15 accountable for anything whatsoever. was that addressed? not in the slightest. innocents were prevented from doing their jobs. untouchable GS-15s continued to lie. can't say I feel sorry for Martha when she had evidence of lies and thievery and told congress she did not have the discretion to mark him down on appas.

Flexible, but low morale

Pros

Lots of work at home opportunities. Wide variety of job types. Significant organizational changes underway. Could be returning to the list of best agencies to work for in the next few years.

Cons

Very top heavy, limiting mobility into GS 14 & 15 levels, in several divisions. Scandal from several years ago still stings, and drives some counter productive policy and behavior.

Pros

The sky is the limit for the amount of responsibility you are willing to take, people of the same grade and salary having from little to no responsibilities to full blown multi million dollar responsibility. You get what you can handle and take it from there. Great place to learn

Cons

everyone make the same no matter how good or bad they are.
