Pros
I was a student employee for a UC Davis department for 2 quarters, and felt like the staff was very helpful in allowing me to have hands on experience in working in an office environment. They encouraged me to express interest in any of the projects that the office was working on and welcomed participation. I felt like my time there was a great learning experience and looks great on my resume.
Cons
My experience working at my particular department was all together positive during the time I was there. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, my position was no longer made available to me. Be prepared to feel the effects of budget cuts.
