Overall an OK company to work for, for citizens or permanent residents but not so much for temporary work visa holders.
Pros
Friendly academic environment, beautiful surroundings, great and affordable gym and sports facilities, international and multicultural diversity. Relatively easy to find jobs at an entry-level and by talking directly with the PI's.
Cons
Salary rates are low and not competitive. The majority of the new hires are at the lowest salary scale possible and salaries are not raised on a yearly basis even if the performance reviews are positive (could be 5-years till the first salary upgrade and still this would only be $500 more per year). Some senior managers demand too much reporting and limit flexibility and creativity. There could be a lot of unrecognized scientific work and some PI's and even senior managers take ownership and credit for staff´s work and publish it without even aknowledging the real authors. University does not sponsor greencards for research staff (only for professors).
