Pros
The small size of the school means departments really take time to listen to our concerns. Our TAs have gotten raises, reduced work load and assistance from department heads and management because they always listen to our feedback. The students are varied as with any school but most of the time are really nice to teach and willing to learn.
Cons
The pay is not great, but at least cost of living in Merced is low. Some IORs do take advantage of their TAs' time, so make sure you stand up for yourself if your workload is unreasonable.
