Good while it lasts...

Pros

If you can get a teaching assistant or associate gig and learn to manage your time, it's not a bad way to get through grad school. Doesn't really pay enough to live well on, but works as a supplemental income and covers insurance costs.

Cons

Doesn't last. Unless you have a guaranteed fellowship, you're looking for a new gig every 6–10 weeks. As an assistant, often others don't appreciate you official "part-time" workload and give you full-time work.

Great Working Environment

Pros

Great working environment, positive colleagues, opportunity to work with students; competitive benefits, vibrant atmosphere, beautiful campus. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Cons

Not many. There does not seem to be much room for upward mobility, at least not very quickly. The range of tasks is fairly limited, lots of administrative jobs.
