Pros

Great access to resources and specialists.

Cons

Mediocre leadership that only cares about numbers and productivity. All levels of leadership have "take it or leave it" mentality. Flexibility and compromise are not in leadership's vocabulary. Healthcare professionals are overworked - average work week is 50-60 hours. Pay/Benefits are below average.

Pros

Flexibility with schedule, job stability

Cons

They got rid of a lot of the benefits that I used to have when I first got the job. None of those is stipulated in the contract, so they can take away benefits as they please. Health insurance is very expensive for part time physicians. It is pretty good if you are full time. This year they took away our yearly 5000$ CME money. Before they used to not prorate the CME money for your FTE, but as of last year they do. They used to give out 100$/phone monthly rate, because you do use your personal phone when you are on call. They got rid of that 3 years ago. So the more they expand, the worse their employment package and the overall atmosphere it gets. Mediocre leadership that is becoming more like HealthOne's or Kaiser's.

Pros

I had wonderful coworkers. We made a great team, always helped each other. That was the only thing that kept me going at this facility.

Cons

Executive leadership always talks about how they’re “working on hiring more staff”, I heard this constantly for over two years straight as the nurses and CNAs were flexed up every shift. My license was always at stake with unsafe ratios and patients that should have been in an ICU, but weren’t because there were no beds available. I had honestly the worst nurse manager I’ve ever had in my life, HIGH on favoritism, always worried about your personal life, asks employees to be her “unit snitches”. It was so disgusting and this lady has worked at UCHealth for about thirty years. Coworkers always reported her to HR and she was investigated several times, but nothing was ever done because UCHealth obviously does not give a damn about their employees, just the bottom dollar. If a patient assaults the NURSE very badly, management will ask you what YOU did wrong to make it happen and they will kiss the patient’s backside. UCHealth is also one of the worst paying systems for nurses in the Denver area so definitely look elsewhere if you want to be paid what you’re worth. “Raises” there are completely insulting. Also you have to pay for parking which although minor, is annoying.
