      Good Job For a Young, Single Person

      Pros

      UDC went out of their way to hire me. I was really surprised how quickly the process went. The training was pretty thorough and the supervisors were kind.

      Cons

      The projects changed frequently and with little notice. As an unmarried person I would have loved this job. However, when there is a lot of changes in geographical locations and short term lodging with a family, the expenses can add up quickly when you aren't able to plan your life out better.

      Challenging opportunities to show your skill exist with UDC. Your colleagues are highly skilled and willing to share skills as needed to allow you to grow. The teams are highly successful at achieving success in business challenges. The teams are extremely knowledgeable with is awesome for leveraging Geometric Information Technology to help utility organizations achieve top notch utility operations.

      The challenges are complex and the skill already there is among the best. So, you are expected to also be the best.

      Good pay If you want to travel and live alone in the cheapest motel rooms available, then travel is a pro

      Cons

      No long term outlook (6 months into the future you have no idea where you will be) Zero chance for upward mobility dangerous conditions demanding travel requirements Once they know they can move you around they take full advantage of this and you will never see your friends or family Zero transparency between management and techs. You could go a full month without contact with another employee or your manager. You are not consulted in relocations, they make every decision based on numbers without any regard for how it affects your personal life You are only a number to this company. You will be alone 100% of the time in dangerous work environments because it's cheaper that way You are at risk of being laid off at any time with no notice
