Pros

It is a stable company which promotes and develops from within. Majority of management started out as part of the labor force before becoming management employees.

Cons

The people don't care about each other. The culture is more ran by fear than by respect. In recent years goals constantly change and are becoming unrealistic. Everyone is worried about avoiding the beating and who to blame when something is not going right. Upper management does not like to change their minds nor do the care to use ideas that don't come from them. Not the place I want to spend the next 10 years.

Pros

The benefits are good - particularly if you are a two-unit manager.

Cons

Work/Life Balance: there is nothing balanced at UPS. You either work till you drop or don't work at all. Impossible goals are expected to be met and humiliation in front of peers is not uncommon when goals are not met. The workload and hours are unreasonable. Work/life balance is a foreign concept to management. Many managers and supervisors have been through divorces because of their responsibility to UPS. The management in the EBA Department micromanage their groups and overburden employees with too many reports, recaps, reviews, meetings and anything else that doesn't help grow the business. These reports are only used to cover the managers. If you mention it or disagree with their reasoning, you are targeted and removed as a disgruntled employee, regardless of you meeting goals.

Pros

-Job Security is rock solid -Health Benefits -College Tuition Assistance, up to $1,500 every 6 months -Union Protection -Free lawyer services (even for speeding tickets!) -Company discounts

Cons

-Dangerous work environment -Claim that safety is a number one priority, however, that is just PR legal BS to shield them from lawsuits. -Harassment and coercion of injured workers -Fail to provide safety gloves or hearing protection that other far less profitable labor firms provide. -Health benefits don't kick in until 1 year now, versus 3 months in the prior contracts. -Low starting pay
