Pros

The Job is Secure because it is such a large company, and the co-workers are friendly. The supervisors directly above you and friendly and take what you have to say to heart.

Cons

Corporate doesn't care about you, your job, or even knowing you exist. The benefits are decent, but you pay too much for them, they don't pay nearly enough, and we are consistently being forced to work overtime, even during holiday weeks when we don't get paid OT to be there.

Pay, culture, planning, understanding of what's reality is all lacking.

Pros

The love of micromanagement, the joy of having to watch your back all the time, the thrill of never knowing when your number will be called for a layoff, the sheer enjoyment of knowing your immediate superior would sooner stomp on your back than back you up.

Cons

Being underpaid and under appreciated. High cost of benefits. Power mongering senior management that doesn't care about the rank and file. Inability to get anything accomplished without approval from two or three people above you. And oh yeah, the company is killing the print product.

Pros

There really are no good things about working under the Gannett umbrella any longer. The best thing I did was to leave the company which reduced my stress level one-hundred fold. Money isn't everything and I don't miss this place at all.

Cons

Frozen salaries for all but those at the highest levels of the company - since 2008! Annual benefit cost increases and doing more with fewer staff. Every year they figure out a new way to suck more money out of your paycheck so you are never getting ahead financially.
