Pros

8% match but you have to be there 5+ years to fully vest.

Cons

Very mission oriented and in training they do everything possible to get you to drink the Kool-Aid. At best it is a mediocre salary for a high stress, numbers driven, watched-like-a-hawk, call center environment. 1 out of every 5 managers is decent or cares; the rest of the batch don’t honestly know how to interact or lead a team. (This company is the epitome of people don’t leave jobs they leave managers.) You cannot switch managers and many of them will find ways to circumvent promotions for their team members unless it directly serves them. Training needs to be longer and more in-depth to give reps full confidence and capability to serve members.

Pros

Vacation. Very generous vacation and leave policy, which is good as you'll need it. Education Assistance. Desperate to incent employees to further their education. Great employment opportunity for active duty/ex-military.

Cons

A majority of executives are retired military bureaucrats. Those that aren’t were bred from the limited local gene pool. Neither offers much by way of practical experience and leadership is aspirational rather than inspirational As a result favoritism and incompetence is rampant. It describes itself as 'a relationship company' to mask a culture rife with toadyism, nepotism and cronyism. See’s itself as an innovative, market and technology leader when the reality is just the opposite. It’s an insurance company with a bloated call center supported by an expensive product portfolio. Compensation is below market and not competitive resulting in a middling, disengaged workforce.

Pros

Congrats—you’ve won the lottery and for all intents and purposes don’t need to work anymore. You’re paid well for what little you actually do, and on top of that, the bar is incredibly low. (Just look busy…easy to do here where quantity of output is valued.) Granted, you’ll lose that creative spirit (it’s ok we're working on a process to fix that), lose any sense of design fundamentals (it’s ok we’re working on a process to fix that), and lose that drive to meet deadlines (it’s ok we’re working on a process to fix that). But oh well, what does it matter? You’ll soon join the ranks of so many others—management and otherwise—who fight hard to maintain the status quo so that they are able to start their day late, leave work early, and collect that bonus money. Long live mediocrity!

Cons

No downsides, really. I was at first confused by the nonsensical language that’s thrown around all day, but once I learned to string random design and business jargon together with authority, I feel part of the in-crowd.
