Pros

Good 401k match The members (customers are very nice)

Cons

USAA came into the Dallas market almost 5yrs ago. They wanted to hire advisors who already had there licenses and experience. The job title was wealth advisor and you would be talking to members that had 250k and above in assets. The first year we spoke with people that had 250k and above and with referrals and word of mouth the site hired alot of employees. Once we were fully staffed and all the seats were full (management flipped the inbound call switch so now your day consist of speaking with people in debt, no money and no clue why they were transferred too you. Then management changes our sales goals to product PER CALL instead of a stacked rank with yearly goals. This was a classic bait and switch to fill seats in the Addison office. The majority of advisors left are currently looking for new jobs and the turnover rate is approx 70%.Managment does nothing to keep employess and says this is natural attrition. That being said, word is out on USAA in Addison and very few people apply for jobs at this site.

Pros

Large organization and growing Significant financial investment in IT and Innovation Highest levels of executive management are innovative and growth oriented If you have military experience, degree is not needed to advance (great place for vets)

Cons

Promotions based on tenure and relationships rather than contributions or experience Pay good but not competitive in hot IT market Too many entitlements and a large number of employees that are just punching the clock Value military experience over education

Pros

Good benefits, 401k, good for *retirement*, job stability

Cons

Very very outdated technology being used, heavy red tapes, inexperienced architects stuck in the 80's, knowledge in USAA is not useful anywhere else, also - extreme boredom. Also be warned - 70% of the workforce in IT is actually outsource to India.
