Pros

There are little pros to working here.

Cons

As someone who has worked under the management of this rafting company for quite some time, I feel compelled to share my experience, particularly regarding the management style of our manager, Sam. Working in what should be an exhilarating and supportive environment has been marred by the unfortunate reality of dealing with a manager who lacks both professionalism and empathy. Sam, to put it bluntly, is a terrible manager. His approach to leadership is deeply flawed, characterized by a mean-spirited attitude and a tendency to take out his frustrations on his subordinates. This not only creates a toxic work environment but also demoralizes the team, making it difficult for us to deliver the level of service and enthusiasm our guests expect from a rafting adventure. The issue goes beyond mere personality clashes. Sam's management style is detrimental to the operation of the business. Mistakes, instead of being treated as learning opportunities, are met with harsh criticism and, at times, personal insults. This fear-based management approach stifles creativity and initiative among the team. We are often left walking on eggshells, afraid to take risks or propose new ideas that could benefit the company. Moreover, Sam's inability to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of his employees is disheartening. Many of us go above and beyond to ensure our guests have a memorable experience, often under challenging conditions. Yet, our efforts go unnoticed, or worse, are undermined by Sam's negative attitude and lack of appreciation. It's dispiriting to work under someone who not only fails to recognize your contributions but also actively diminishes your sense of worth and enthusiasm for the job. In an industry where teamwork and morale are paramount, the impact of Sam's management style is profoundly negative. It affects not only the well-being of the employees but also the overall quality of the guest experience. A rafting company should be a place where adventure and joy are at the forefront, supported by a team that feels valued and motivated. Unfortunately, under Sam's management, this is far from the reality. It's disappointing to see such potential for an incredible working environment go to waste. A change in management style, or perhaps a change in management altogether, is desperately needed for the betterment of the company and its employees. Until then, it's hard to see how the situation can improve, leaving many of us feeling under-appreciated and looking for opportunities elsewhere.
