Pros

Down time to do as you please. Decent pay. Good benefits.

Cons

Being told you are "empowered" to make decisions only to be questioned about it every time, poor upper management, getting charge backs 3 months after you do your job and make a sale when you cannot turn people down, being penalized for numbers a year prior, my BIGGEST complaint is that they want you to drink the company kool aid and be "bought in" aka think the way they want you to think

Pros

Great benefits, work-life balance, decent pay plus commission, great co-workers, team spirit, treated with respect and professionalism. Great place to gain many new skills and experiences. The culture and values here are amazing, especially if you believe in doing business in a transparent, ethical way.

Cons

US Cellular had a lot of potential but unfortunately the senior execs have fallen asleep at the helm. They talked about winning, being #1, and being able to quickly react to industry and technological changes but it was just talk and no actual plan. Towards the end of my tenure, senior management failed to recognize THEIR own errors and started blaming the retail consultants by demanding ridiculous quotas and started firing people, who in the spirit of the D.O.'s openness, expressed logical and reasonable concerns to sales and store managers. The pressure to sell is now incredible but how can you sell when the services and especially prices are not competitive?!?! They also started to take away programs that differentiated US Cellular from the rest of the wireless companies and then had the audacity to continue claiming that we were still different regardless of the absence of the unique programs. (Battery swap, 30 day guarantee, started charging activation and upgrade fees, etc).

Promises, not results

Pros

Work life balance is here so long as you're not in accounting. Mostly nice people to work for and with. Open communication paths with all levers of leadership. Above average pay.

Cons

Opportunity is all about who you know, rarely what you know, and that's how you'll move up. You'll get credit in terms of a pat on the back, but the end results will be taken by whoever is leading / presenting. Company promotes a "winning" attitude, but is behind the times in many respects. Claim to have an "agile" mind, but everything takes months or years longer than it should, and those involved are not accountable. Leaders expect you to lead your own way and promise to champion your cause, but provide no direction even when given a road map.
