Pros

The money is great. If you are a "paper chaser" and self motivated, you will find success here.

Cons

Micromanagement...so much of it. At one point we were required to photocopy our records of customer interactions and hand them in like school children. And questioning these kinds of procedures leads to disciplinary action. In a word, management is ineffective. Most of them seem to be inexperienced managers. Those who aren't are few and far between. The feedback model at US Cellular is an immediate one. For ex, you go through a customer interaction and right after it happens, you get feedback on it. Don't bother asking for clarification on these sessions.

Pros

Benefits, and Pay is above average for wireless retail. I had a great time learning new skills and moving up through the company. Sucks that they sold the market that their headquarters is located within. A lot of companies have mission statements that are just writing on the wall, but Most of the people in management tend to use it as their guide to leadership.

Cons

The retail management roles are asked to to do things that are not in the job descriptions. For example, even though the company has a marketing department that is supposed to create ways to drive customers to the store. The manager are expected to find and work events that present opportunities to create traffic in the store. Once the manager finds this event, they give the information to their marketing manager to get approval, to pay for the event. Then the marketing manager get credit for the sales that are attributed to the event, even though they may not have done any work. Same thing with the Business Development Managers. Doesn't seem fair to put that much work on a store manager if you have people who make more money, and the title that fits the task that needs to be done.
