Pros

World renowned medical institution with behind the times administrative training and leadership. Diversity is a pro and why I came here in the first place but the UT System is controlled by politics so hard to escape that aspect. People from everywhere across the globe and all walks of life work here. It truly was a privilege to learn and grow with so many different people.

Cons

Culture needs changing and better training. The intranet is beyond out of date. Internal search engine is chaotic and uninformative. The second most endowed university not investing in critical technology/software that is used everyday by employees is mind boggling. Whoever negotiated the 2023 BCBSTX contract should not be negotiating on behalf of UTHealth employees ever again.

Pros

Great academic institution with ability to grow your own role.

Cons

The problems UTHealth has are system level and not necessarily localized to a single department. Hard to improve.

Pros

Good benefits. Good health insurance.

Cons

At UTHealth you have to be aware of the differences between schools and entities. I am sure there are some operations at the organization that function properly but in my experience this place is chaotic, harmful to workers, and very poorly run. Before you accept an offer ask around about the school or program you are joining.
