SOmetimes pay checks have come late. WHen I was first hired I went unpaid for the first few weeks I worked for over three months. Communication is terrible. I tried reaching out to higher management on multiple occasions. Emails were never responded, phone calls were never returned. Additionally, Ulta gives the allusion that it is a fine retailer but operates more like Walmart. Ulta is open regular business hours on all holidays except Christmas day and for the poor employees who are stuck working long hours on holidays they do not get compensated with time and half. There is no room for growth. Only once have I seen someone moved up from within and then their pay was not equally compensated. Usually Ulta hires outsiders with little retail or cosmetic industry skills. They do not provide adequate training for the salon team either. Many of the girls do not know how to perform basic services that are offered. Expectations are high for sales goals yet stores are not supplied with even half the payroll to hit said goals. Clients complain regularly that there are not enough associates to help them. I also work regular shifts where I do not receive a break. This is the norm and upper management has vocally mocked an associate who voiced concern over not receiving a break. They also expect venders to make up for the lack of man power which is not their job. Finally, very little training is given to employees and good luck asking for help.
