Pros

Great benefits plan, clean, excellent products and tools. Pay scale is great and commission levels are very attainable.

Cons

Managed by a very young staff. I was very scrutinized and made to feel inadequate even though I am very experienced and a good dependable employee. Loss prevention methods for staff are ridiculous. Very difficult to take breaks. Rude management. Overall negative and exclusionary environment.

Pros

the discount was nice to have when i wanted something that was new or prestige

Cons

I started out not having enough hours, and then as people got frustrated by their lack of hours, they started to quit, which left me with so many hours from the original schedule, being called in and others asking me to cover their shifts. I at times would work 9 hours shifts with no breaks or just one 15 minute break and I would be on my feet the entire time. There was hardly enough people on the floor to cover the cash register and do things that needed to be done, so you’re often doing it all. The general manager only cared about credit cards and nothing else. While they’re important for sales, I was really worn down and miserable due to the long shifts and being under appreciated.

Pros

Loved my coworkers, the Dermalogica training was great, 25% discount, salon was tight knit & I learned a lot from veteran employees. Salon employees receive free services, customers and tips were generous.

Cons

They got rid of the best manager I've ever worked for & brought in someone no one can stand. My hours were cut severely & I was expected to do everything with nothing and FOR nothing ( min wage.) We were micromanaged to death. Breaks are few & if you have physical limitations it's not the job for you. You're expected to constantly recruit people for facials & do all the salon duties if you don't have a client. If they no show too bad; you have to do conversions instead. I have a painful autoimmune disease & it finally became too much. My body decided my fate at Ulta for me & I don't miss the long hours, not having life outside of work & the emotional & physical pain for min wage ( commission structure is a joke.) Licensed professionals deserve better than this; I also have a college degree BUT beauty is my passion. If that were the focus instead of the almighty dollar then they'd have unlimited success. Also the clear bags/ check every time one leaves the store is humiliating. That's what cameras/ security is for. 3/4 of the salon left at once so that's saying something. My GM bad mouthed them afterwards, + they were all friends of mine. I stayed too long being miserable.
