UMA is fast-paced has dedicated teams in every department and is a great environment for growth! New hire training was the best I have ever received and they truly set you up for success. Managers and other team leaders are VERY accessible and are open to feedback. I have never seen so many different opportunities provided by an employer. We work hard to take care of our students and UMA works harder to take care of us!

Cons

I love working evening shifts because it allows me to connect with some students I may miss during the daytime. Sometimes it is tiring to complete a late night shift and be back for opening the next morning.

UMA is employee and student focused. Looking for an environment that focus their attention on you? Looking for an environment that thrives off of daily fun? Looking for a place that takes what you think into consideration and uses it to mold its future? Look no further. UMA is what we call a "kool-aid" drinking place to work. We take personal joy into our students success and we turn it into personal success. Want to be that person that can change a life and make a difference? Clearly you have looked far too long because here at UMA it is a one stop shop!

Cons

Any environment has challenges. A con you ask? In a funk, can't get with it? That's what our trained staff is for. If making a difference in the lives of others you may never see, is the only con. And if you feel that way then this family isn't for you!

Best reasons for working here at UMA for me means that I am able to assist individuals who are or were in the same situations like myself. Not only does it build their confidence level, it also builds my confidence level on changing the things are wrong in my world. I also get to surround myself with so much positive energy from a group of people that share in the same concerns of our students on a daily. I can honestly and whole-heartedly say this is my family and my home away from home. There is never a dull day at UMA!!!!

Cons

Some of the challenges of working here is that we do have to keep pushing our students to do better for themselves and/or their families. No one should have to go through training just to listen. With me is first and second nature. When you listen to your students' situations it's kind of hard not to sympathize for them. It's also hard to hang up with those students and not have a wonder or care in the world about what's happening to them at that very moment. One thing we are trained to do is empathize.
