Pros

Friendly atmosphere, fairly flexible work schedule/PTO if you are in certain departments.

Cons

You need to negotiate your salary up front because all future promotions/raises are based on this even if you move to more technical, high responsibility positions in the future. This is a BUSINESS not a SCHOOL. Management is spotty at best. Corporate Culture is a "good old boy/New York Centric" network. If you aren't one of "them" you are nothing. The people most often rewarded are the people with the worst work ethics, worst attitudes and most likely to stab you in the back. Average age is 28 - not necessarily a "con" per se but harder on those who are older employees

Pros

I think that there is a lot of potential for UMA, and that the core values that they stand for are honest and true in nature. It has been a good experience for me thus far and the atmosphere in our team is great. I am enjoying the fruit they are putting in the break room as well!

Cons

I'm not a big fan of the word cons, I think room for improvement would be a better term for this. Positivity and morale seem to slip when trying to meet deadlines, which I've experienced first hand that the stress from the managers or team mates ends up in burnt bridges with employers, graduates, and even worse employees. Some teammates go behind others backs to try and get interviews or placements, which I understand because of the quota that is needed to be made but wouldn't it create higher level of moral when everyone is working together instead of pushing against each other? I wish the turnover rate wasn't so high because I've lost some great workers through out the last year because of the overwhelming amount of stress that was put on them to get numbers up, but nobody spoke up when in fact they've been helping other CSA place their graduates by helping on leads or giving credit when not needed. As I said it's not a con, just room for improvement ! I love working here !

Pros

UMA is not only concerned about the success of its students, but also about the well-being of their employees. There are numerous health and wellness programs in place, free of charge. They also hold a bi-monthly fruit and vegetable market, to give employees healthy options, right from the convenience of their workplace, at no cost to them. I take pride in representing a company that cares about the students, as well as the employees. I worked at another online university prior to this, and was refreshed to see how UMA does business. They are truly invested in their students’ success and their employees happiness, not at all with padding their pockets, as was my experience with my previous online university.

Cons

There are some slight disconnects between departments, but communication is constantly improving. There are lots of changes/updates and revisions to current processes, but I believe these changes are all for the long-term best interest of the company. As they say, “change is the only constant in life”, and I believe we are evolving for the better.
