Pros

Great pay and benefits if you can stand the politics

Cons

They like to hire and get you away from your job so they can lay you off so bonuses can be paid. While some are in food stamp lines. Managers are getting million dollar bonuses. Then the think that the furloughed people will come back for more abuse. All they want to do is make record profits to show the stock holders good numbers. They don't care if you lose your house or vehicle because you got laid off. They don't care that you only see your family in passing in or out the door coming home or going out in 10 hours later. Why should they care they work 5 days a week and get million dollar bonuses off your work.

Pros

Great money and benefits. Fun job, not stuck in a cubicle. Good opportunities for young people or hard workers

Cons

Terrible lifestyle. Always on call. Have to be there awhile to get enough seniority to hold a regular schedule. Union is soft.

Pros

Good job. You can either work a whole not or not as much at all and you still make your money. It all depends on the job you bid into.

Cons

Salary, healthcare and vacations are negotiated by one of two unions. While benefits are still good they seem to be in decline. In addition the hours are horrible, you are on call 24/7. You work off of a rotating roster, you go to work with a train that you are lined up for 9 times out of 10 the time that you show going to work does not show up on time. You either go to work way early or super later. It makes it hard to adjust your sleep cycle.
