Pros

The pay, pensions, 401(k), etc were all good. The corridor management level directly above me was also pretty solid, all things considered. But that’s it.

Cons

The benefit package (aside from pay and retirement) is terrible. Top level management is jaw droppingly detached from reality. Just incredibly asinine and cutthroat. All the while praising PSR for maximizing shareholder value while it eats us alive. Every day is an epic cluster. Nothing works in the field because they fired all the employees that maintained power and cars. Zero train movement is commonplace. Morale is nonexistent. The culture is soulless. They’ll walk 110 dispatchers out the door and combo all the territories then wonder why the remaining desks are completely shut down. There is hardly any advancement opportunity. I can’t say it was ever great there, but good lord The last year or two I was there they pulled out all the stops and began screwing everyone over as hard as they possibly could. When I quit it was the best thing I ever did.

Pros

Not many left. They're making sure no one stays long.

Cons

- Pay scale has decreased since the 'Title Restructuring' - aka demotions - Knowledge is being cut AND walking out the door for greener pastures - Different rules applied to different departments... COVID - if you can work from home, do so 50% of the time... UNLESS you're in Operating, then it's in the office 100% (other Class 1 RR's are at home where possible till at least 1/1/21) - Field personnel are back to cooking their numbers by falsifying events - Customer service is a joke. They create work and nearly all the knowledge there is gone. - Leadership could give 2 bleeps about the people. Numbers are treated better than we are. - Jimmy V was obviously hired just to be a hatchet man. - greed! Greed!! GREED!!! the top just wants more... I know everyone talks about the shareholders, but the Execs each have 10's of thousands of shares, so of course they're going to do everything they can to drive the stock price up, no matter how much damage it does to the actual operations. - Our poor customers are getting screwed!!!

Pros

Good group of coworkers and management was so so

Cons

Crappy pay for the area, really crappy work schedule. Always getting shifts changed around to benefit the business. Union job that did absolutely nothing for its members besides take their money. The current company goals are to meet a G55 Ratio and the way they are going to meet this goal is to continue to layoff employees.
