Pros

good co workers international nice cafe at headquarters liberal work from home policy

Cons

no room for growth and no employee development "be happy you have a job" should be the motto advance from within is a nonexistent thought. the only way to get a promotion is to get hired in from another company no concern for the employee. After 15 years I resigned and received no questions from HR. I resigned due to an unprofessional and abusive manager and was never asked why, after 15 years I was leaving. all my exit papers were stampled "TERMINATION" at the top. Company has no future, no products to sell and is a consistent loser in the marketplace

Pros

I worked there for 2 years about as happy as one could be, i was on Novartis project. I had the greatest supervisors, the best team lead. It was fun and i never planned on leaving. The pay is good for level 1 help desk and bonuses on top of that. Medical is...well as usual, its a scam wherever you go, not that great, but whatever, it was the market and not so much Unisys

Cons

Managment decided that the evening shift was moving over to after hours, in the after hours department, people take more then one project at the time. My team was promised we would only be handing 3 accounts. It was the deal to move the Novartis project with after hours. Things went fine for awhile, until Unisys lost the Novartis contract. And this is where this company went from probably 5 stars to 2 stars and that is me being generous. The promise that we where given was revoked, instead, we where all going on all the ques. The training was abysmal, complex projects that should have minimum one week training where instead focused in a few hour crash course. Only one project that i was on i felt i was partially trained, the others, i had no clue. When it went live, we where all thrown into the Que and many of us didnt have any logins, couldn't even get into the ticketing system and was excepted to place the customer on hold to ask for help. They still excepted our stats to be within range for our bonuses. There was no reason for this sudden change, there was plenty of availability to make this transition slowly

Pros

It has a good work-life balance. Very laid back work culture and very helpful people who know their stuff. They've been with the company for so long that the developers are highly skilled in their line of work.

Cons

No innovation. No fierce hiring of new graduates to contribute to the technology growth. Too many layoffs going on and the stock prices have plummeted pretty low. Another impediment is that they have too many people as managers by virtue of their tenure: they are not contributing to the growth of new technologies in the company's product cycle. Career opportunities inside the company is very limited since most of the work revolves around maintaining the older systems. Employee benefits are far too less when compared to others. Salary is not competitive which is why better engineers choose a job elsewhere. Vacation policy is average. No free lunch. Too much of work is still done in dated technologies. A relatively new employee coming out of that workplace would find very limited scope in applying to today's top companies.
