Pros

In my multi decade working career, United Rentals is the only company I have encountered who genuinely cares about its employees personal and professional well-being. (In that order) United Rentals firmly believes in promotion and advancement within the company and backs up their many words of encouragement with action. You could look for the rest of your career and not find a better company.

Cons

United Rentals biggest problem for new employees is the hiring process itself. Way to bureaucratic and convoluted and extremely time-consuming.

Pros

UR has multiple business units that allows growth opportunities in every market. Employee resources continue to excel in availability and reach, and offer support for both employees and families. United Compassion fund is an employee funded charity that benefits employees and families in times of need. Employee feedback is taken seriously at the local and regional level and has been used to improve the structure and culture for growth.

Cons

Standardized onboarding is still a work in progress, but has improved drastically in the past 10 years. Some positions are underpaid, especially entry level roles.
