Pros

It's a good company mostly. The concept of a REIT is that Fiber on telephone poles or underground has intrinsic value just like Hotels or stores. They bought a bunch of private companies and integrated them into one. They are solid in many respects.

Cons

Working in telecom will never make you wealthy but if you work hard and maybe step up in the company, you can be secure. Uniti has turned up a lot of new circuits but did not make the goal for 2023. Just like all companies, they are mindful of the budget. So when it comes time to cut, employees that have been with the company 10 years can get caught up in a layoff cycle. This just makes the remaining people have to work harder. And smarter too if they can. Make no mistake, this company will let you work yourself in to the ground. That's why they keep younger people that don't make a lot and work them harder.

Pros

People make the difference. Speaking for The Colony office (Formerly PEG Bandwidth), it was the high quality people that made going into work everyday enjoyable. Close knit group of skilled people that would help you at the drop of a hat in order to get tasks completed by tight deadlines. Benefits packages were good and slightly above standard. You were empowered to make immediate decisions and adjust processes to fit a multitude of ever changing situations.

Cons

Since the buyout of PEG by CS&L, things have changed immensely. Layoffs seem to be the norm after every merger/acquisition. New management is not willing to take their time in understanding who/what are the current responsibilities before making cuts in the personnel rosters. When they do this, they face "gaps" in areas of responsibility that are left vacant........leading to increased response times for outages, installation deployment schedules, and sales engineering/requests. For the guys from Hunt and Southern Light that were just acquired, be prudent as what you just did to the Legacy PEG/Tower Cloud employees, will happen to you when CS&L (Corporate) make the next merger/acquisition.
