Pros

There are many crazy smart people working here. Doesn’t really matter where you go, you’ll run into someone that you can learn from. Unity offers the standard SV perks and bennies. Still needs to step up their total comp game tho.

Cons

Imagine a prodigy with a knack for solving complex problems but raised by highly dysfunctional and unstable parents. That’s what Unity is right now. If you still haven’t made the connection, the prodigy is the employees and the dysfunctional parents is the management. So, if you want to experience what it’s like to be raised by unstable people, join Unity! It will be anxiety-inducingly fun :):)

Pros

Everyone knows Unity in gaming. Looks good on your resume. Health insurance which you will definitely need if you decide to work here.

Cons

- Toxic and backstabbing culture. Wayyy too much politics. - Don’t expect a raise. Promotion is not merit-based. It’s reserved for people who know how to play the politics. - Managers without proper training. they don’t know how to manage. It’s about who you know and not about what you can do here. - Long hours and unreasonable expectations. - Engineering incompetence. Questionable pratices.

Pros

Work can be fun and exciting. Most times, they are overwhelming.

Cons

Lack of career and salary advancement and incompetent management are great reasons to stay away from Unity. Most people also leave for those reasons. Upper management always sells exciting and impactful work as reasons to work at Unity. Unfortunately, exciting work doesn't pay rent in SF bay area. And it's difficult to be excited about your work when you are always drowned in technical debt. Oh yea, don't be surprised if you are expected to work crazy hours. No WLB. HR would probably respond to this by saying that this is not true and it's not the norm. It's a bunch of BS really.
