Pros

Excellent System Services and Coding department. Current management does an excellent job of coordinating and relaying information.

Cons

UnityPoint leadership initially informed everyone that they would never mandate the COVID Vaccine until it was FDA approved. Recently it has been announced that they are mandating the vaccine, or you will be terminated. As of this writing, the vaccine is not FDA approved. UPH is not the only company mandating the vaccine prior to FDA approval.

Pros

Most employees are very easy to get along with, especially on nights. You can self-schedule. Insurance benefits are nice.

Cons

Management is extremely hostile which creates a negative and toxic work environment. Managers play favorites which they like to claim it isn't true, but it definitely showed to me and to many of my previous colleagues. They don't care about you, your health, or the patients safety/health. Have fun taking 7-8 patients all over the entire floor. Most staff quit or got fired when they raised concerns. Almost half, if not more than half, of the nurses there are travel contracts because the staff retention is terrible. Teamwork is hard to achieve with the revolving door of nurses. They do not promote educational growth, increasing your skills, and do not pay for any certifications unless you get "clearance" from management. Management offers no help to nightshifters, never comes in earlier than 6am (that's rare), and only goes of off hear-say to make their opinions/decisions.

HR is a problem

Pros

Coworkers are very nice. The company tries to do nice things but it is not enough. My boss is very good.

Cons

They talk FOCUS but do not actually practice it. HR is unbelievably bad! Benefits are the worst I have ever seen. Twice in the past few years they have cut PTO. The first time, they actually stole earned PTO from nurses pto banks - even though they were not over the limit! Last year they reduced the PTO amount, earned each pay period. 401k match is on the very low end. Health insurance is for their sites only, so if you have an accident or get sick while on vacation - insurance will not pay anything. HR is very secretive about company policies and makes me wonder what they are hiding.
