Pros

Easy to get around hospital.

Cons

Co-worker was actual manager. Manager didn't want to do the work. Not transparent. Over-time during training. Job description didn't match myriad duties. Bullying atmosphere at times.

Pros

Culture is fantastic — incredibly supportive.

Cons

PTO, parental leave, etc are subpar (along with many other companies). For a healthcare organization, I expect the company to be more holistic in this realm.

Pros

Nice nurses and doctors. Reading an ER doctor from Unity Points advice on the covid19 crisis in the Des Moines Register from time to time restores my faith in the medical staff there. It’s the pt reg and h r staff that are my concern.

Cons

I was discriminated against for being an age 50 woman. A young co worker attacked me in words to h r. I was asked about said co worker who I never knew really that well. She was a mentally unstable young woman with a young daughter and an unstable marriage. She also complained about me to a gullible incompetent hr rep. Years later just recently, the same woman approached me at a health club as if I was an old friend of hers which was odd as she deliberately complained about me to h r and a manager there. My first and only time in life being treated so poorly and let go. This was after moving to Iowa and having worked at an internationally ranked hospital in a neighboring state. Poor mgmt and so glad I moved on to get to know better people in the Des Moines metro. I also went on to land a well paying job elsewhere in town. Ironically the brother of the hr clueless stupid hr rep works at my current employer. So funny. By now I’m certain the hr rep was let go because of her inability to objectively monitor workplace grievances etc. I complained to the state of Iowa about my situation back then and was awarded compensation. I also have registered complaints with the Des Moines police and an attorney about the woman amd two other younger people who were rude to me. If she or any of these people ever run into me again I will file charges in civil court. Don’t go there. Go to mercy.
