Pros

They sent us a stainless steel water bottle, so I guess that was cool?

Cons

I used to read these reviews and think they were just disgruntled ex-employees, but I was sorely mistaken. Take it from someone who was celebrated while working here: KEEP LOOKING. Come to Unlock for a freak show of extreme dysfunction on every level, or if you want to learn 100 ways to gaslight your employees. If you suffer from impostor syndrome, you might be able to rehabilitate yourself here when you realize just how incompetent leadership is.

Pros

-Unlimited PTO and remote work flexibility were definite perks. -Before the Unlock acquisition, the legacy agencies had strong, collaborative cultures and worked together more smoothly under different leadership.

Cons

-Following the acquisition, an unprofessional and competitive atmosphere emerged, making it feel like you could be thrown under the bus by people you hadn’t even worked with. In all my years of working at agencies, I had never encountered anything like it. -No real effort was made to integrate teams, processes, or client workflows. Instead, employees were left to figure things out alone or in silos. Despite all the talk of “integration,” there was no action or input from those actually doing the work. -Leadership allowed toxic behaviors to surface, replacing a once-collaborative culture with fear and distrust. Reporting concerns to HR seemed futile, as other employees’ experiences suggested that doing so would only make you a target for layoffs. -Watching talented colleagues get laid off one by one, with no clear strategy or transparency from leadership, was disheartening. The uncertainty impacted morale, and clients were left in the dark about the company’s shifting priorities.

Pros

There are some genuinely intelligent and friendly people that work for Unlock.

Cons

Leadership provides no insight into the organizations performance, e.g. finance, growth, opportunities, etc. That being said, given the regular layoffs (yes, multiple) occurring weekly for the last few months, it’s pretty clear that Unlock must be hemorrhaging money. HR and Leadership are extremely disconnected from the employee base. They sent out an “Employee Engagement Survey,” roughly a year ago to which they scored miserably on for almost all categories. They then acknowledged that “changes need to be and will be made.” Part of these “changes” was to be a “deep dive” into the pain points of employees and how they were to be addressed…well, here we are a year later and still no “deep dive.” When HR or Leadership does reach out to the masses (which is extremely rare) they always mention the “core-values” – which is laughable because none of them exhibit these values. They make continuous promises (especially the CEO) and never act on them. There is ZERO opportunity for growth as an employee, either career wise or financially. We’re required to fill out “Performance Evaluations” but they’re useless and have no impact on your ability to get increased compensation. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the current VC dump Unlock to the lowest bidder in the very near future. To summarize – I wouldn’t recommend working here, the organization needs a major overall from the top down.
