Pros

Nothing. Don’t expect a pay hike even after two years. Recruiters will paint a rosy picture before you join, but don’t fall into those traps.

Cons

Leaders lack knowledge of how to run a startup. They only care about quarterly goals. No matter how difficult it is to complete these goals, they only assess whether you've met them or not. Otherwise, you will be under red alert. Even if you do a great job, you won't be recognized. Forget about monetary awards; they won't even acknowledge your efforts with a small email. There is a significant bias towards former AppDirect employees; they are treated differently. There is no annual or semi-annual compensation process. When you ask for a review, they will only inquire, 'What have you done in the last year?' You will receive minimal compensation. Recruiters might promise stock refreshers every year, but these are false promises. Don’t fall into that trap. There are no new innovations as the DevOps team always blocks the implementation of any new idea.

Pros

Upgrade can be a good company to work for. Fully paid Health Benefits and unlimited on site snacks, drinks, and sometimes lunches provided. The company has a good culture and can be fun.

Cons

The problem lies in the advancement and growth opportunity they promote. Because of this it is a group of extremely competitive people all fighting for the limited opportunities (and the opportunities are limited). The way they choose who to promote or give new opportunities to really has no rhyme or reason and is nowhere near as easy as they make it seem to advance in this company. It can end up being very unfortunate and complacent in an environment where you end up feeling stuck

Pros

- Pay is semi-ok, but don't expect to actually be paid by the value of your work. The managers, at least in this department, appear to only care about getting their team's salary cap low and bowing down to THEIR managers. Benefits are good, but other companies have much better. This company has a lot of money they aren't reinvesting back into their people. - other departments appear to actually promote and help their people thrive

Cons

- Clique environment, Managers are very clique oriented - The company talks up it's culture in training but once you actually start the job, it's just another bank job - Managers appear to be more worried about their direct bosses than helping their teams - Managers in this department were known for missing meetings/interviews constantly and displaying unprofessional behavior - Sexual harassment present at the company - Managers still act like working from home is a reward even though our entire team was more productive at home - Company is more interested in making rules to keep bad workers, than treating people like adults - Managers treat their teams like children - Managers punish the whole team for the failings of only a few - Parking is a mile away unless you want to pay $100 out of pocket a month (to be reimbursed, but most companies don't need you to have to pay out of pocket) - Hostile work environments created by the managers - Company is just like any other bank with how it treats it's chargebacks team

We work hard to develop a supportive and professional environment in which people can thrive and feel safe. Harassment and bullying have no place at Upgrade. We take these comments very seriously and will look into the situations you describe here.
