Only exists to acquire companies.

Pros

When my company was acquired by Upland, I was able to retain my job and my manager. That was good and provided some stability during an uncertain time.

Cons

Where do I start? They started off the meeting announcing the acquisition to us with big smiles, welcome to the "upland family" etc. and did not once address the fact that this may be hard situation for those on the call. I managed several accounts (20+) in my position, but was only given the title of "representative" and not "manager" because my accounts apparently did not bring in enough revenue for me to be considered a manager. I brought this up to see if this could change, I was denied. They have goals to acquire a new company every quarter or so, so they exist just to acquire companies, slash those companies' employees in half or by more than that, and do not value employees that they keep.

Pros

Upland puts the customer first and kept great contact with our top partners during the transition. Healthcare coverage was good. Mostly remote workforce.

Cons

Oh, where to start? Upland does not care about their employees as human beings. They use an M&A business model that keeps moving from one to the next without any real care for preserving anything about the previous acquisition outside of dollars earned. Company culture and physical office spaces were removed. About 75% of our company was laid off within the first few months without any real rhyme or reason. Severance was minimal with non-competes in contracts. Leadership seems to only care about shareholders and max dollars. It's one way to run a company, but not something that most employees want to be a part of. Staffing is continuously slashed forcing active employees to work overtime without proper compensation, all while leadership asks "how do we avoid such high turnover?". Contracts were written poorly with no room for any negotiation. Vague answers were given to any specific questions regarding contracts, pay, etc. If you work here, you're a number, not a cared for employee. They're also an at-will employer, and they can and will act upon it. This is not a place for secure employement.

Clueless Executive Team

Pros

Work from home for almost all employees

Cons

Executive Management doesn’t understand the software business. Cheap, penny-pinching attitude, very short-term thinking. This company never makes a quarterly profit and hardly any salespeople make quota.
