Pros

- Well funded tech start-up - Lots of perks - lunch credit, snacks, t-shirts - Unlimited PTO - Work / life balance - I work 30-40 hours per week; and can spend time with my family and have a life outside of work

Cons

- Company has really lost its sense of direction, and I feel that we are trying to be everything for everybody. The Leadership Team really needs to correct course, and better define who we are and where we are going. - Too many silos and lack of transparency - Employee turnover is high, and no one addresses it. It's concerning to current employees that so many smart people have left the company. - We hire too many people. Many smart people are not utilized or confused about their respective roles and responsibilities. Our current space is hard to work in, there are people sharing desks and no room to breathe - Our product offering doesn't match current valuation or market needs - Frustrations of our customers create a stressful environment forcing product and engineers to feel the need to constantly pivot to something new to avoid barrier - We don't have a core competency or product - Uncertainty about what we actually do...are we a development shop, PaaS/SaaS company, or consulting firm?

Pros

With so much chaos going on, it is easy to get away with not doing anything or delivery anything. The data science team, a few engineers, and a few product managers are crazy smart.

Cons

Very toxic. Very cliquish. Very little clear direction from leadership. Very poorly run. Very poor leadership. Everyone is worried about how they look to Brad, and Brad himself is very worried about his image. Every charity donation he makes has to be announced from the top of a mountain. Brad Keywell is on a mission to become a billionaire again, and as fast as possible. With that desperation comes a lot of chaos, and running around like a chicken with its head cut off. When I was there, he hardly seen the product in development. They now have an entire new leadership form GE who all live in Silicon Valley. The GE execs have failed at GE creating a platform, and now they think they can become successful at Uptake?

Pros

-Great, super smart, interesting, and engaged people. For real. -Office space is pretty nice, 2nd floor lounge is awesome, snacks are plentiful. -Lots of opportunity to access and use different tech or software. -Decent pay/benefits. Good work/life balance. Commitment to philanthropy. -Data science = good.

Cons

Before joining Uptake, a former colleague expressed his concerns when I asked about the company. He did not recommend it. I should have listened. -Poor leadership and poor management...Simply put...blinded by ambition, out-of-touch with the business, and alienating. The other reviews have said enough already. -Politics are bad. Like, really bad. -Little mentoring or support from managers. -Regular layoffs. Seemingly constant turnover, from the executive level on down. -Strategy is always changing and is seemingly and unnecessarily complex. Walk before you run! -This was a setback in my career, disappointing in what seemed like a truly high potential opportunity. I did not develop as much professionally as hoped, and I believe a lot of that has to do with how Uptake is run.
