Terrible Company; Terrible CEO

Pros

Many of the rank-and-file are quite good.

Cons

CEO lost his composure at an all hands; how can we trust him to run a company when he can't even give a decent speech?

Thank you for your feedback. We value direct and thoughtful communication. We also encourage people to feel their feelings- even when that may mean sadness or anger. It is true, oftentimes our CEO is direct with his expectations and communicates with candor. Being a culture rich in feedback and learning, we’d encourage you to talk with your manager or leadership directly.

Pros

You'll meet the brightest, kindest, funniest and most open-hearted people.

Cons

Uptake is a cautionary tale of a company that grew too fast, got ahead of themselves and spent money in a capricious manner. Uptake was truly wonderful in it's nascent phases... But as time went on, there is a lack of transparency and trust. It hurts me to write this, but Uptake is not headed in a great direction if it continues at this pace.

Thank you for your opinion; we take this feedback to heart. The proactive decision that was made this past week was to enable the organization to continue on this growth trajectory. We are in great financial position and continue to grow and while challenging, senior leadership acted strategically, mindfully and decisively. We are committed to being transparent to employees, and invite questions to provide clarity. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your manager or a member of our leadership team if you feel there is a lack of communication.

Self-Destructive Culture

Pros

Onboarding was seamless and the HR team put in a lot of effort to make sure employees are valued and provided for. It was very fun working on a product with tons of potential.

Cons

Uptake has the lack of structure associate with start-ups and there are several talented and intelligent people who do try to improve it. However, almost anything that tries to get implemented get's ripped apart due to the bureaucracy and the vast amount of egos. I found the culture self-destructive, backstabbing, and stressful. There are several tightly knit cliques that would fight against each other and it was difficult to keep others accountable. Due to this culture, I witnessed coworkers hiding valuable information from one another, tantrums during meetings, and several project holds.
