The VA: It's What you Make of It
Pros
- Patients have a higher level of access to expensive therapies, resources, and treatments, including AAC devices and TEP supplies - You get to rub shoulders with a lot of fantastic doctors, PAs, and other professionals who are connected with Harvard and BU - There's a great collaborative atmosphere for many of the people who work here, including Tumor Board, ALS Clinic, and ITTT
Cons
- If you're a woman, prepare yourself for the inappropriate comments made by a number of the older Veterans - There's a lot of bureaucracy, which leads to an impaired ability to hire enough staff in a timely manner or fire people who are, simply, terrible at their jobs - There are a lot of pretty lengthy wait times to see certain specialties, including GI and ENT
