Pros

Good quality medicine, experienced and capable staff

Cons

There is no vacation benefit for vets at this clinic. Me off, even for professional conferences , etc., is possible if you get another vet to cover your appointments when away. Consequently you end up paying the other doc back when he/she want time off. Not a healthy situation for typically overworked veterinarian.

Pros

VCA's specialty hospitals--at least the ones I've experienced--practice excellent medicine, and the corporation tends to spend much more money with the upkeep at the specialty hospitals vs. the day practices.

Cons

While management inside each hospital may place value in each individual employee, the Company itself sees each employee as little more than a number. The corporation cares about increasing revenues far, far more than it cares about the dedication or hard work of its employees. This is evidenced by "caps" on employee wages, especially employees who have worked for the company for 20+ years. Once you reach a certain level of income, it is nearly impossible to obtain any increase in pay.

Pros

Working in a facility that helps reunite owners with their ailing pets is incredibly rewarding, BUT...

Cons

Employee longevity and seniority is unimportant to management. 15+ years of employment is entitled to same schedule and benefits as an employee that has been there 3 weeks. Little to no room for advancement, nepotism runs wild . Poor communication from upper management. Poor communication from corporate management. Review process for employees in a.) not confidential b.) concerns aren't addressed by upper management. More cons than pros working for this company. Constantly short staffed, upper management will not hire additional CSRs for client service. Techs constantly short staffed. High turnover. BEWARE
