Pros

The discounts for your pets is nice, monthly meetings to keep employees up to speed with new policies.

Cons

Everything else. Management is conniving. The threat of being fired is always looming. Not a lot of focus on the client services. Be prepared to loose hours in order for vca to make their monthly budget.

Pros

The best reasons to work here are solid company with long-term potential job security in the Corporate Offices. Top Execs are solid and the job perks include company lunches & after-hour fun functions. If you get into the right Department, great place to work. One week vacation to start. Three weeks after 5 years. Very pleasant surroundings. Very pet friendly! You can even bring your pet to work!

Cons

The challenges include very pricey benefits, quirky departmental management with hit and miss communications styles. And if you're not ready to live your life at work glued to your PC for a solid 8 hours per day, then it's not for you. Very word processing, repetitive tasking & spreadsheet heavy workload. Raises limited to max of 4% a year so not much room. 4% rarely given. Lack of effective training and support. If you don't figure it out yourself, be prepared to move on quickly!

Embarrassed to say I work here

Pros

Some of the benefits were decent. I did like the 401K plan. However, instead of focusing on quality of care for our clients, the focus is strictly on how much money we make them. Period. It doesn't matter how bad the service is as long as we make the budget at the end of the day. It's ridiculous.

Cons

They cut our staff and cut our pay. The management is conniving, always looking to penny pinch our clients and short change the employees. We have lost so many clients since VCA bought our wonderful little practice that I'm embarrassed to say I work here. Instead of focusing on quality of care, they focus on quantity of clients, no matter how rushed and incomplete the care may be. I am currently researching other job opportunities, which brought to this fabulous little website.
