Pros

They pay pretty well, so that is why I've stayed as long as I have. The benefits are OK but not nearly as good as my previous job.

Cons

Focus is always on financial production. No way to work with peolpe to help them out. Staff and doctors treated like commodities. Not too cocerned about comptence, just someone that's going to work and not make trouble. Mgmt never tells us anything which is stressful in bad economic times.

Pros

VCA does offer health insurance benefits, though a bit on the expensive side. There is quality veterinary care, atleast at my location, because I would never stay at an animal hospital that didn't show compassion for animals. Another perk is the employee discounts.

Cons

Let's see...where do I start? Working for incompetent management who never has the employees' best interest as priority, constantly having to explain why you get stuck there late because management is never there but they don't want payroll to run overboard and even though hospital hours end at a certain time people show up late for their appointments and we're not allowed to turn away walk-ins or emergencies even though its not a 24hr. facility so therefore have no choice but to be stuck in overtime even though you're exhausted from a long shift but have no relief staff.

Pros

Compassionate and caring individuals Team-focused work environment Great discounts on care and medicine for pets of full-time employees Excellent quality of medicine at some VCA Hospitals

Cons

Inconsistent in quality of service across hospitals. "Wage freezes" for all employees despite obvious corporate investment in projects like "Scriptright," "Vethical" and accruing new practices Non-existent or rarely used training protocols for new-hires Communication from the corporate office was inconsistent, confusing, and usually hard to reinforce that the hospital level
