Pros
Self-employment benefits Flexible hours Pre-made curriculum so your time can be spent in actually teaching Can travel and still work. I've taught from several locations around the country. The technology platform is incredible and gets better every day. Getting to learn about a different culture and share ours. Love the students!!
Cons
Depending on the time zone you are in, the hours can be different than normal working hours. Because you are self-employed, you are not paid for the 'prep time' for classes. This is a little longer upon first beginning teaching because of the learning curve of the lessons and the platform. However, you are self-employed (1099). You will need to look at it through this lens when determining what the company should be doing for you. This learning curve fades as you become more experienced. Don't forget to pay your estimated taxes to your local government, if applicable, throughout the year. You will receive a 1099. They do not take out your taxes for you.
