Good Employer

Pros

Freedom of hours, freedom of location (if you have a reliable internet connection). Not a lot of preparation once you are familiar with the routines of certain levels of classes and have all the props in order. They do pay you, though you never really know what day it will arrive. The children are delightful to work with!

Cons

Very strict policies regarding what counts as a teacher IT problem. After 6 such problems within a 6 months period, your contract will be terminated. This is regardless of whether you teach 150 classes per week or 15 classes per week. I am (was?) on the higher end of classes taught, and fear that yesterdays power outage may have lost me this job. They have IT problems all the time, and do not seem to mind about that.

A job I wake up and smile for

Pros

The company it true to itself. This is something that I know from personal experience (many times over) is rare. People are valued, and the culture is lighthearted, but also as serious as someone would expect from a big business.

Cons

The working times can be tough, but something to be expected from this type of business. Also, since VIPKID seems to be growing rapidly, sometimes it can feel like there is a lot going on at once.. but the learning curve is super rewarding.
