Focus on market competition and greed has overshadowed the heart of hospice care at Vitas. Incompetence in management is rampant. Those who were excellent leaders are so overstressed that they've lost their ability to make a difference. Weak technology systems and overly complex procedures lead to daily system breakdowns and service failures. Employees are routinely held accountable for these failures. The phrase "thrown under the bus" is a common expression one hears amongst the staff. Overall it seems Vitas is blind to the cracks in their foundation and insistant on attempting to further build upon it. There is nothing innovative going on at Vitas.

Sr. management of the Fort Worth TX office do not treat the employee's with respect or understanding when hardships of their own come up. FW office management has shown itself to be very cold and calculating; when case load drops employees are forced to use their PTO to get their full hours instead of using it as it was inteded for PERSONAL TIME OFF. Other Vitas office sites will bring staff into the office to help until case load increases but assuring that employee their FT hours without sacrificing their PTO.
