Pros
Before my team manager left a few months ago, I was able to stand working there at Vitas. Best team nurses, manager, and teammates I could have asked for. I love working with this population and I have build many relationships over the time period I worked with Vitas. Schedule is very flexible. Work life balance a plus.
Cons
Upper management is terrible. Promoting people to high positions based on favoritism and not on qualifications is how this company apparently works. This company was great when I started out a few years ago, then everything turned to crap when my team manager left, and a lot of nurses left too. The new GM says a lot of pretty words but has no compassion for the well being of this company's employees. Worth a dime a dozen. I lost count of the great hard workers that have left Vitas because of job satisfactory. Staff is overworked, understaffed, and not listened to. Corporate isn't worth much either since all they do is spend money making their way over here to the Houston area program to eat and make friends among the upper management. Do they bother taking the time to talk and listen to the field staff? Nope. If there is any hope in saving this program, there needs to be a clean sweep of the upper management staff asap. Patients are revocating, leaving and transferring to other hospices because there are no nurses available to see them during the day! I can deal with crazy, I can't deal with incompetence.
