It's sad to watch this place sink

Pros

Great people to work with (though many have left by now). I learned a lot from them as a more junior employee.

Cons

My experience here was great for the first year, but went downhill after that. Less interesting work, fewer new clients, and 4 rounds of layoffs in a span of 13 months, which really put a damper on employee morale. I'm pretty sure the company size has halved, or worse, in the past two years. I agree with other sentiments here that the CEs are "yes men" who make concessions to clients for the sake of revenue, which can be brutal for the teams doing the work. This pressure to do more work with fewer resources has only worsened with all the reductions and turnover, and instead of admitting that they're not backfilling open roles, they just tell everyone to be more "entrepreneurial." The company has become less diverse over time (through both layoffs and voluntary departures) and, despite that, leadership remains stubborn about DEI initiatives. I used to love working here, and I'm sad to say that it now seems like a sinking ship amidst all the turnover and financial challenges. Definitely not as welcoming as it once was for non-white, lower-level employees. If you value DEI, mentorship and job security, this company isn't the place for you in its current state. Also, anyone living near an office will be forced into a hybrid schedule, only to end up in Zoom meetings for most of the day anyway.

Pros

VSA is full of some of the best and most senior designers, strategists, and was full of some of the best developers in the industry. The company has a huge portfolio of major enterprise businesses including big tech, so VSA allows you to gain a lot of experience working with major companies, senior thinkers, and VSA generally sets a very high bar on the quality of its work.

Cons

VSA, being a long-established agency, is sometimes slow to respond to changes in the industry. It tends to stick to older methodologies, older technologies, and older project management processes.
