The best reason to work at VSA Partners is if you're an ambitious and talented designer who enjoys an intensely competitive environment. The place shines on its big star status accounts—and design is King here. Once you work here, you can get a job almost anywhere...if you survive.
Cons
Writers and strategists are largely outsourced, and management charged with strategy at VSA Partners —more so in its St. Louis office—tend to confuse 'business strategy' with 'slogans' and "salesmanship.' While VSA Partners should be commended for being a design firm that acknowledges "business strategy" to the degree that it does, the company seems to like the idea of billing for it more than it does actually delivering it—the fees charged to clients is very high—excessive by most outsider perspectives—and VSA Partners falls short in this particular area. Brilliant design often, but not always, manages to carry the day despite a often (not always) weak strategic foundation.
