Pros

I love my team and they're the only reason I stay. I've gotten a lot of experience in a very short amount of time and my team is very supportive. We've developed a friendship level relationship in our team that makes it so easy to go into work everyday.

Cons

Since Mark is supposedly commenting on these negative posts, I feel it important to reiterate that none of the negative reviews below are wrong or "taken out of context." His all-hands meetings are a joke and are met with eye-rolls and snickering because of the outlandish things he says. All-hands meetings are seen as a platform for him to feed his ego. I get the 410K match issue for some that came in from the ReturnPath acquisition and I also understand that Validity simply can't afford it, but for Mark to suggest that they leave the company is a reflection of his leadership style. He also denied any complaints with our benefits package - he actually said ours are superior so any complaints toward our benefits are just not true. But I've been to 5 different startups and this is by far the worst benefits package, insurance is awful and even my doctors say that United insurance is the worst. He has no EQ and every time someone has a complaint or issue with the culture, he's very quick to deny any issue and argue that everything is great (see his responses on posts below). The "making it rain" comment should never have been said at an all-hands. If that was an inside joke he has with Sydney, then it absolutely was out of context with the rest of us and was seen as in bad taste. People audibly gasped at that comment. I have a feeling that Sydney didn't appreciate the "joke" either despite what Mark says, it's just Mark lacks the EQ that he can't read his own audience. The company has potential, but the people-centric "culture" that Mark prides himself on is just not there. I feel that he's trying to instill a good culture by saying we have a good culture over and over, but his actions don't match it. He clearly doesn't listen to feedback and that transfers into business discussions where he just dictates demands

hi, this is Mark, Validity's CEO. you know, this is a tough one to respond to, and i wish that this employee was comfortable sharing their experiences with me/HR/anyone so we could specifically work together to continue building our culture vs offering a rant that s/he believes will just fall on deaf ears. i'm listening and would love to work, every day, on making Validity great. all i can say is that we have several hundred people who love working together and would definitely describe our culture differently. the benefits we offer are competitive in each of our markets (we do an annual review of these - i see the results), United Healthcare is a very good national insurer (important because we have employees all across the US, and the world), and we try to be sure we have a balanced overall offering that takes care of all of our employees. with that said, i have never felt that our benefit package should be the reason why someone would want to work at Validity -- our culture, the team, the opportunity to personally make a difference and move the needle, the fast paced environment, the ability to be an owner of the company with stock options, the personal accountability and ability to advance -- these are reasons why i hope people chose to work with us at Validity (of course our benefits should be fair and good - and are! just not the primary thing that defines what is good about Validity). and, as part of our family, i hope that we each work together to improve our company every day. for this reviewer: i would be happy to talk with you to learn more about your concerns and work together with you to make our company better. if that is intimidating to you, i know our HR team and the rest of the management team would be happy to speak with you, as well. finally, with regards to your comments about EQ, this is an example of where i would hope we could each work to have each other's backs and give each other the benefit of the doubt -- let's openly and honestly talk about real concerns with an eye toward making things better and let's avoid being nasty to each other along the way -- that is how i think your colleagues would describe our culture.

Pros

Nice office space with some good people and free snacks.

Cons

The place is like the wild west, no direction and no trust across the board. A very combative, aggressive and contentious leadership starting from CEO and down to his leadership white guys. Unresponsive, useless and none existing HR. No real opportunity to grow within the company unless you're a friends with someone higher up, management picks favorites and those are the only people they listen to. They always look for a fall guy to blame, instead of looking and fixing the real issue. Speak your mind and your fired the next day.

We appreciate that you shared your concerns with us. The Validity leadership team and HR team both actively listen to employees concerns and investigate every issue brought to the team's attention, but we are thankful for your feedback that not everyone feels this is the case. We do care, and we do work to create a great environment for every employee. This feedback will be used to ensure our team members are made aware of their resources and support systems within the Company.

Pros

• Health insurance is decent and Validity pays a good chunk for a family. • Tampa office provides free food at least once a week. • Unlimited vacation and some really know how to utilize that to their full advantage.

Cons

• CEO is very charismatic and presents extremely well – but actions are NOT in line with his promises or what he presents. • Promises are broken – multiple times we were told “no staff reduction” and less than 4 months later 20% of the original organization was laid off – and additional over time. • The company lacks diversity on every level, especially in upper management. No visible path for minorities or women to advance and HR/upper management’s suggested ‘solution’ to this is to remove the photos from the leadership page on the website. • HR non-responsive in regards to time-sensitive issues – insurance being cancelled due to company nonpayment, 401K incorrect contributions etc., job title changes etc. • No interest in knowledge transfer of existing employees from acquired companies – brought in new teams in every department and existing employees were terminated, pushed aside or marginalized. • Customer focus company shifted to a sales focus – high sales, increase average sales size, no regard to the existing customer base or grandfathering in existing customers. Not for Profit program was terminated overnight with no planning, forethought or consideration for the consequences to those organizations. See customer reviews on Salesforce Appexchange –for DemandTools - a near 5-star product for over a decade now only receives 1-star reviews since the acquisition – many comment that no stars is unfortunately not an option. • Moved employees into new roles – even if they didn’t want to or even if that career path was their goal and then in multiple cases, those individuals were let go shortly thereafter. • Sr. Directors inappropriately disclose/discuss personal information regarding their subordinates across business units and to other subordinates. • Many describe the atmosphere and office as ‘toxic’. • Extremely high turnover. • Payroll errors are frequent – incorrect pay, excess pay, skipped pay, deductions are taken that shouldn’t be etc. Unbelievable how many mistakes were made in regards to something as important as payroll. • Multiple positions moved to another office location to facilitate the replacement of the position with someone from the newest manager/director/C-level network – oftentimes replacing a female with a male. • Negative reviews often do not remain on Glassdoor.

Thank you for the detailed comments regarding your experience at the Validity. Unfortunately, a number of the events referenced in your review have either never occurred or are mischaracterized in your statement. For example, the Company’s insurance was not cancelled due to non-payment, and the Company does not have a pattern of “frequent” payroll errors. As in any company, errors in administrative matters may occur on occasion and are addressed immediately once identified, and this is also true at Validity. Furthermore, Validity does offer paths to advancement for ALL employees, and Validity’s turnover is below industry averages for SaaS organizations. As Validity has evolved, changes have been made, sometimes including location of key roles, but never at the expense of doing the right thing for the people impacted by those changes. Validity works hard to retain great employees and support them to the fullest extent possible, and is proud of its ability to support employee growth and development.
