Pros

Close drive from my home.

Cons

Valley Health has the entire Northern VA area tied up. Unless one wants to drive to WVA or Fairfax/Loudoun County, you're stuck here, making piddly wages compared to the rest of the nation. It's despicable how underpaid the RN's are and we are ALWAYS understaffed. No wonder the turnover is exceedingly high. The new grads get a year under their belt and off they go (who can blame them). It is not an employee friendly hospital. The only way to survive is to keep your mouth shut and do your job. The management is not on your side. It's a greedy atmosphere (just look at the bonus CEO Merrill just received) with no appreciation for the loyalty of staff. The only way to increase one's pay is to quit, get rehired, then negotiate! Absurd.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Nurses are the heart of our system; we take great pride in the talented and compassionate nurses that support the community we are proud to serve every day. We are always seeking ways to show our employees how much value they add to our system through competitive pay, tuition assistance and an array of benefits which help nurture the physical, social, emotional and financial well-being of our staff. We are disappointed to hear about your experience. We respect your anonymity, but if you are willing to share, we encourage you to reach out to your leadership, or HR partner, so we can collaborate together on areas we may be able to improve.

Pros

Benefits are amazing. Not hard work.

Cons

One of the worst companies I have ever worked with. Physicians rule the whole operation and I was bullied out in less than a year. Tried to implement change and improvements but was told to stop. Not a good working environment for professionals with extensive knowledge of the industry. Mostly looking for bodies to fill spots. Good place for those who only want a job without actually implementing positive change or creating revenue enhancing departments.

Pros

Most of the coworkers were nice to work with. The patients and residents were wonderful, and it had a homelike feel to it in the beginning of my career.

Cons

Uneducated micromanager forcing employees out once Winchester took over the other hospitals’ departments.
