Squandered potential, dinosaur management philosophy

Pros

This company has enormous potential with several key, big name customers. The products are amazing, and diverse.

Cons

The lack of intelligent leadership is appalling, starting with the CEO. It seems no one in management can make a decision. Its analysis paralysis until the workers give up hope and leave. There seems to be a fundamental lack of understanding that businesses need to spend money to make more money. This company pinches what it spends on equipment, materials, salaries and wages, employees benefits, technology, training, etc. Their policies are archaic and insulting to employees. Raises and bonuses are substandard. And all of this contributes to a failing to meet, let alone exceed customer's expectations.

Pros

Years ago Vaupell was a great place to work. Good people and a fun work environment. If an employee took initiative they could go far

Cons

Current management is unresponsive and uncaring about employees. Engineers stopped doing exit interviews when they left because the President would argue with them about their comments. Pay rate is very low and bonuses are basically nonexistent compared to the profitability of the company. The company is coasting on past reputation and is basically a part of Boeing. Other customers will have their jobs bumped to accommodate what Boeing wants. Unethical business practices when is comes to using reground resin

Manufacturing time capsule

Pros

Decent salaries for highly visible positions. Great location with lots of terrific businesses nearby. Working here is a humbling experience generating appreciation for other employers.

Cons

Vaupell is the manufacturing equivalent of McDonalds, low skill, zero advancement, really disorganized, poor quality all around; where juvenile schoolyard politics abound. People are generally overworked and unhappy to the point of being outwardly and unjustifiably rude to each other. The company burns people out and throws them away; retention appears to be a low priority. People are "let go" without cause before they can use benefits as a cost saving measure. Quality people are frequently quickly destroyed in frustration: they do not belong here anyway. There is a lot of tail-chasing and finger pointing. Trying to make sense of any business intelligence is generally futile making process improvement extremely difficult. Management is isolated, unresponsive and elitist, expecting far more effort from others than themselves. Core management is typically people who have been there over 10 years, resistant to change, embracing antiquated practices, with little idea of business outside the company. Team building and upstream communication are shockingly nonexistent. The environment is reactive and in continual crises: plan to work really hard to compensate. Processes do not scale and IT support is abysmal at best. Loyalty only goes one way here, do not expect to be recognized or appreciated for phenomenal effort. Don't expect feedback, reviews, training, raises, advancement, praise or compassion. Benefits are slim and not industry competitive. Taking work here may be the equivalent of professional suicide.
